Lobbie Introduces Macros: Faster, Smarter Documentation

Lobbie has launched Macros, a new feature designed to simplify clinical documentation, making charting faster, more consistent, and less burdensome for providers and staff.

Why Macros Matter

Clinical documentation often requires repeating the same language across charts, lab notes, or compliance logs. Instead of retyping or copying and pasting from external notes, you can now instantly insert predefined text directly within Lobbie.

With Macros, you can:

  • Move quickly without retyping the same text over and over
  • Insert blocks of predefined language in seconds
  • Use multiple macros within a single note
  • Easily edit macros at any time
  • Maintain cleaner, more consistent documentation

Whether you're working in Clinical Notes, In-House Lab Notes, Controlled Substance Logging (including administration and waste documentation), and Communication Log, Macros help accelerate your workflow.

What Are Macros?

Think of Macros as intelligent shortcuts. For example, if you regularly add standardized language to in-house lab notes, you can now create a Macro for that text. Instead of copying it from a notepad or retyping it in each chart, simply type the special character “/” in the enabled text field. A list of your configured macros will appear. Select the appropriate one, and the predefined text will instantly populate the field. It’s that simple.

Using Macros, providers can move through common documentation far more efficiently while maintaining accuracy and consistency.

Flexible and Customizable

Macros are built to support both organizational standards and individual workflows.

  • Macros can be shared across your entire organization
  • They can be limited to specific teams or users
  • Individual practitioners can create and manage their own personal macros

Macros can be restricted to specific areas of the application, so users only see what is relevant to that section. This ensures clarity, control, and appropriate use across departments.

Key Features & Permissions

Macros are easy to configure and manage within account settings. Administrators have full control to create, edit, and manage macros across the organization, while individual users can create and manage their own personal macros and access those shared with them. This allows teams to maintain consistency, and appropriate use across documentation, labs, logging, and communication workflows.
